Zerby Gap Familyworks, is a residential program of the Centre County Youth Service Bureau, opened in August 1998. This highly structured, staff-secure residential program serves dependent and delinquent adolescent boys, ages 12 to 18 years old. Zerby Gap specializes in fostering family involvement from the beginning and throughout placement to facilitate family reunification and permanency planning for all youth in care.

Zerby Gap Familyworks provides:
bulletIndividual and group counseling.
bulletSupervision of family visits.
bulletTransportation to meetings, outside counseling etc.
bulletAdventure based counseling.
bulletChild & Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) assessments,
bulletLife skills instruction and training tutoring for academic success.
bulletRecreational programming.
bulletMedication Administration.
bulletStudents may earn the opportunity to participate in school related teams.
bulletEducational support. students attend either Penns Valley Area Schools or Manito.
bulletOpportunities to experience many activities outside the facility such as: community service, field trips, etc.

Familyworks recommends these additional services:
bulletIntensive family counseling (weekly) in collaboration with community-based family therapists.
bulletParticipation in the county Family Reunification Program.

Goal

Zerby Gap Familyworks staff collaborate with placing agencies, the court, and families to develop a permanency plan for each youth enrolled in the program. The goal of the  program is to provide assessment and individualized treatment to enable youth to function at their highest possible level in the least restrictive setting.
