Challenges
for Accelerated Performance (CAP) is a 14 low and 6
high element ropes course set in the mountains above
Spring Mills, serving both youth and adults.
Participants in 2009 included The Boy Scouts of America,
Bellefonte Area High School Students, Good Shepherd
Youth Group, and PSU groups. Services include adventure
based work, team building initiatives, staff
development, and personal goal setting.
Course participants grow by working through the
elements both as a team and individually. Personal and
group goals are set for each element, and direction is
provided by trained facilitators. After completing an
element, group facilitators process the activity with
the group to help draw out real world applications for
the experience.
On the low ropes, participants cross the swamp to
capture magic eels, swing over pits of poisonous peanut
butter, and plot, plan, and negotiate their way through
the Mohawk walk. Each low element is both a personal and
group experience that is filled with challenges!
The high ropes elements are designed to give a
more individual experience that challenges participants
to cross the postmans walk and multiline traverse and to
jump from the pamper plank 35 feet off the ground. The
vertical playpen challenges participants physically as
they climb the ladder, work their way up the tire, and
pull themselves up the knotted rope to the top of the
trees!
The zip line is a great way to end the day;
jumping from the wooden platform and zipping 150 yards
through the trees! The ride only takes a few seconds,
but it is fast, furious and fun!
In 2009, 12
trained facilitators guided 346 participants
though the ropes course!
