Beginning the
application process
The first step in
becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is to sign up for an orientation
session by calling 814-237-5731 OR by e-mailing us at
bbbsnews@ccysb.com. Orientation sessions are offered on a weekly
basis at the Centre County Youth Service Bureau’s main office,
325 West Aaron Drive, State College. The sessions last about 45 minutes, and
during that time, potential volunteers are given an overview of the
three specific mentoring services offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters
(BBBS) of Centre County, including Community Based, School Based and
JUMP. Volunteers are asked to make at least a 9 month
commitment to the program and must have access to reliable
transportation.

our orientation schedule.
Paperwork
During this
orientation session, volunteers are given paperwork to complete,
including an application and reference form, along with criminal
record check and child abuse clearance forms, which will be submitted by
our agency. Please bring contact information for 3
people we will contact for character references (non-family members).
The next step is an interview, conducted by
BBBS staff. Approved volunteers will
be paired with a little when an appropriate match is
found.
