Centre County Can Help Line

Centre County Can Help provides drug and alcohol hotline services for Centre County.  Can Help has the ability to serve, not only clients with drug and alcohol issues, but also individuals with a co-occurring mental health disorder.    In addition, Can Help coordinates after hours detoxification requests using the guidelines established by Centre County Drug and Alcohol.  Individuals who need support, even in the evening or on weekends, whether it be for information or emergency referrals for treatment, can call 1-800-643-5432, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Can Help also provides mobile crisis intervention services for individuals who may be having a mental health crisis.  This support is available to anyone in Centre County.

Centre County Drug and Alcohol

Centre County Drug and Alcohol is a county-administered program of community-based services through a state-wide network of providers. Centre County Drug and Alcohol’s mission is to develop and implement a service delivery system to meet the needs of affected individuals in their home community. Services are tailored to respect individual need and dignity.  The goal of Centre County Drug and Alcohol is the prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction.

Accessing Services

 

Individuals who have general questions about services are welcome to contact the Centre County Drug and Alcohol staff at 814-355-6744 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, to discuss the various options available. 

Individuals who need financial assistance and are specifically interested in outpatient treatment may contact any of the following three county contracted providers to request an appointment:

American Medical Association (AMA) Reducing Underage Drinking Through Coalitions

Reducing Underage Drinking Through Coalitions is a program to reduce underage drinking problems using strategies that include youth leadership development, coalition enhancement, alcohol policy development, and public awareness campaigns. Twelve coalitions participate in the program. The AMA provides professional direction and technical assistance for the coalitions. The AMA develops and promotes standards in medical practice, research, and education; a strong advocacy agenda on behalf of patients and physicians; and the commitment to providing timely information on matters important to the health of America.

Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America's mission is to create and strengthen the capacity of new and existing coalitions to build safe, healthy, and drug-free communities. The organization supports its members with technical assistance and training, public policy, media strategies and marketing programs, conferences, and special events. With more than 5,000 community coalition members from across the country, CADCA is working with these coalitions to realize its vision of: An Organization of Excellence Building Drug-Free Communities.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a non-profit grass roots organization with more than 600 chapters nationwide. MADD's members are moms, dads, young people, and other concerned individuals who want to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking.

National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors/National Prevention Network (NASADAD/NPN)

The National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors, Inc. (NASADAD) is a private, not-for-profit educational, scientific, and informational organization. The Association serves State drug and State alcohol agency directors, fostering and supporting the development of effective alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment programs throughout each State.

The National Prevention Network (NPN), the prevention component of NASADAD, is an association of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention professionals. It is dedicated to comprehensive and effective services to reduce the incidence and prevalence of problems associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and to promote well-being and health.

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD)

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. provides education, information, help, and hope to the public. It advocates prevention, intervention, and treatment through offices in New York and Washington, and through a nationwide network of affiliates that have long conducted successful programs to prevent and treat alcohol- and other drug-related problems in communities.

National Family Partnership (NFP)

The mission of the National Family Partnership is to lead and support the Nation's families and communities to nurture the full potential of healthy, drug-free youth. Although the Red Ribbon Celebration is the Partnership's most recognized program, it conducts many other important efforts. It has a long history of training youth, and many Partnership-affiliated organizations continue to provide youth training. The Partnership is focusing its efforts on reaching and teaching a new generation of parents, while advocating for issues such as laws regulating tobacco and alcohol advertising targeted at minors and combating efforts to legalize drugs.

PRIDE Youth Programs (PYP) evolved from Parents' Resource Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE) that began as a parents' organization and went on to expand its base to serve youth. PRIDE Youth Programs encourages young people to create real solutions to build a safe and drug-free world. Parents, adults and community members offer guidance and support to these serious teams of youth dedicated to making a difference.
